"When I Can't Even Dream - God's Already Planned!"

The words of that song effortlessly describe New Day, a Texas based trio consisting of husband and wife teams Bob & Pam Reeves and Jim & Kelley Matthews. The histories of each vocalist are strikingly similar and have much in common.

Pam Reeves spoke of her musical history, "I sang my first solo at church at the age of five. My Dad was an Assemblies of God minister, and I learned to play the piano by playing along with old southern gospel records. I rededicated my life to God in 1982 and have been active in the music ministry of our local church since that day - piano, choir, solos and ensembles. Bob & I served as music ministers at Trinity life Baptist Church for five years before embarking on this new journey in 2006."

Her husband Bob had a similar upbringing in church, but truly began serving the Lord also in 1982. Since that time, he has been involved in both full-time and part-time ministry.

Kelley was born and raised as a preacher's kid in Dallas, Texas.

"The church my Daddy pastored did not have a piano player, so he took me, at the age of nine, along with a copy of 'Heavenly Highway Hymnal' to the retired piano teacher in town. We sang 'Near the Cross' and 'Just As I Am' every service for six months straight. I realized that head knowledge is not the same thing as heart knowledge at the age of 29. Jim was saved in 1993 and called into the ministry in 1995. We have pastored two churches; founded one mission church and found out the hard way that Christians don't always show our love for each other as we should. I arrogantly told God I would give one more church a try. We found Trinity Life in 2003 intending to sit and worship alone. God had other plans."

After discovering the couples had very similar stories over dinner one evening, the couples formed an immediate bond and came to realize that God was using this precious friendship to heal past hurts and re-establish in their hearts the truth that loving each other really matters to Him.

In 2006, the group New Day was formed with Pam, Bob, and Kelley all taking on vocal duties, while Jim took over sound engineer responsibilities.

God has continued to bless the ministry and New Day's willingness to serve him in whatever capacity they can exponentially in the last couple years.

"We recently received a testimony of a 20 year old drug abuser, single mother, who found the strength to return to her mother's home and accept Jesus as the result of her mother giving her a copy of our first recording. That is really why we do what we do," mentioned Kelley.

Pam mentioned, "Our new project, Soul Searchin', has a song on it that Kelley wrote that has become sort of our theme lately - "What I Can't Even Dream, God's Already Planned"! He's proving to us that His plans for our lives are so much greater than we can even think to ask or dream! So we're not about to put a limit on what God has in store for us. We're just waiting on the direction of the Lord and moving further when He says move - one day at a time."

"We are taking things a step at a time and seeing where God leads," followed Bob. "We may have ideas of where we would like to be at some point in the future, but wherever we are, we want to be right in the center of God's will, so where He leads, we will follow!"

Kelley agreed, "God let's us dream big! But in my heart of hearts, what I want for the future is to sing words that bring comfort and words that make God real to those who hear us. I don't care if we sing in front of thousands, hundreds or just a few - as long as we reflect Him! I'm blessed in the little churches, I'm blessed in the town opry, and I'm honored to be able to do this at all!"
